Chairman Genachowski's Response to the Senate Commerce Committee's National Broadband Plan Questions
On April 14, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski testified before the Senate Commerce Committee; the subject was the National Broadband Plan. A number of senators asked follow-up questions and on June 15 Chairman genachowski sent a 64 page response. The extended Q&A covers broadband reclassification, deployment and adoption to and by Native American communities, using broadcast TV spectrum for mobile broadband, spectrum use fees, broadband speeds, broadband prices, support for rural carriers, universal service reform, and much more.

Commerce Secretary Gary Locke announced 29 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act investments to help bridge the technological divide, boost economic growth, create jobs, and improve education and healthcare across the country.
