Note: In Texas, AT&T is now reselling regular cable TV over regular cable. Why would such a 'technological advance' have required such massive state-wide telecommunications reform? Will At&T sell Comcast cable cheaper than Comcast? Is this the realization of 'consumer choice' and 'competition' touted by the phone companies to get their video franchise bills passed?

Comcast Nets Join AT&T Lineup
By Karen Brown
In a somewhat rare case of co-opetition between a telco and cable operator, AT&T inked a deal to provide Comcast’s lineup of television programming to its U-verse TV service.
Financial terms were not released, but under the deal, Comcast will supply cable channels E! Entertainment Television, The Golf Channel, OLN (which is soon to be redubbed Versus), AZN Television, PBS Kids Sprout, Style, G4, Comcast SportsNet Chicago, Comcast SportsNet West and SportsNet New York.
“From E! Entertainment to The Golf Channel, we offer something for everyone and are pleased that AT&T sees the high value that these networks have in reaching TV viewers,” Comcast Networks executive vice president for distribution and development Bill Bridgen said in a release.
AT&T so far has fielded U-verse in its hometown of San Antonio, although it has plans to soon debut the Internet-protocol-TV service in a planned housing development in Houston.
Delivered by a combination of fiber-optic and copper connections under its Project Lightspeed network buildout, AT&T plans to extend the U-verse TV service and companion digital-subscriber-line service to almost 19 million homes in its service territory by the end of 2008.
